Biggest funfair on the Rhine

The ‘St. Sebastianus Schützenverein’ marksmen guild, which is more than 690 years old, celebrates the name day of its patron saint St. Apollinaris (July 23rd) with more than 1,500 marksmen at the biggest fun fair on the Rhine. The historic parade with more than 3,000 uniformed marksmen, brass bands, harnessed horse-teams and carriages is one of the biggest in Germany and definitely worth seeing.

The large fun fair, almost a town in itself, is erected for the 109th time this year at its uniquely picturesque site on the Oberkassel Rhine meadows. On an area of 165,000 square metres, show-people from Germany and abroad present their mobile businesses and rides, from the nostalgic to the latest sensation. On the fairground there is also an information booth, a nappy-changing room, a cash point, telephones and much more.
